Dubai: New Zealand secured a spot in the Champions Trophy 2025 final with a 50-run victory over South Africa in the semi-final.

Despite David Miller’s fighting century, the Proteas were unable to chase down the massive target of 363.

They began well but struggled in the middle overs, losing wickets at crucial moments.

Miller displayed exceptional resilience, reaching his century on the last ball of the match, but his efforts were not enough to take his team across the finish line.

New Zealand’s Dominant Batting Performance

Opting to bat first, New Zealand produced a powerful batting display, setting a daunting total of 362/6.

The foundation was laid by Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra, who both scored brilliant centuries.

Rachin impressed with a well-crafted 108-run knock, while Williamson’s 102 saw him achieve a historic milestone, becoming the first New Zealand batter to surpass 19,000 international runs.

The second-wicket partnership between the two was crucial, as they stitched together a 164-run stand, stabilizing the innings after the early dismissal of Devon Conway.

Their efforts were complemented by *Daryl Mitchell (49) and Glenn Phillips (49)**, whose quick runs in the final overs ensured the Kiwis crossed the 350-run mark.

South Africa’s Struggles in the Chase

South Africa began their chase with promise but failed to maintain consistency. Key wickets fell at crucial junctures, derailing their momentum.

David Miller stood tall, keeping hopes alive with a valiant century, but lacked adequate support from the other batters.

New Zealand’s disciplined bowling attack kept the pressure on, eventually sealing their place in the final.

They will now face India in the ultimate showdown of Champions Trophy 2025 Final, aiming to clinch the prestigious Champions Trophy title.
