Guwahati: In a nail-biting contest at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured a hard-fought six-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2025 clash on March 30.
This crucial win marked RR’s first triumph in the season, breaking their losing streak and boosting their playoff aspirations.
Rajasthan Royals’ Batting Heroics
After losing the toss, RR was put to bat first by CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who opted to chase.
The innings began with early jitters as Jos Buttler fell cheaply. However, Nitish Rana turned the game around with a spectacular 81 runs off just 36 balls, smashing 10 fours and 5 sixes in a breathtaking knock.
Riyan Parag, leading from the front, chipped in with a composed 37 off 28 balls, helping RR post a competitive 182/9 in 20 overs.
CSK bowlers Matheesha Pathirana and Khaleel Ahmed were the pick of the attack, each claiming two wickets, while Noor Ahmad and Ravindra Jadeja also made crucial breakthroughs.
Chennai Super Kings’ Chase Falls Short
Chasing 183 for victory, CSK started cautiously, with Ruturaj Gaikwad anchoring the innings with a well-paced 63 off 44 balls.
Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja provided late fireworks, with Jadeja scoring a quick 32 off 22 balls.
However, Wanindu Hasaranga’s magical spell (4/35 in 4 overs) dismantled CSK’s middle order, derailing their chase.
CSK eventually fell short, managing 176/6 in 20 overs.
